The Mediterranean diet is also supposed to be healthy, due in part to the amount of healthy oils used in the recipes. Extra virgin olive oil, especially, is very heart healthy and great for those of us who need to watch our blood pressure.

The Mediterranean Diet is a book chock full of recipes based on the health benefits of olive oil. The web page for the book pushes the weight loss aspect with some hokey photos of skinny women, but if you can ignore those and read through the content you’ll find a lot of value here.

The book itself also focuses on the weight loss aspect, by providing charts to mark your progress on. There’s also a section that talks about how to get started so you can see some sort of result in the first week. The book has some great advice in general, too, on what to be careful of when changing your diet.
